I don't know about you but sometimes I need a little caffeine with my protein in the morning. And perhaps some of you might benefit from some protein alongside your morning cup of joe! Either way, on a very tired summer morning, I came up with the perfect concoction of two of my favorite morning drinks--coffee and a chocolate protein shake!
Like any cup of coffee, you can vary what you put in it based on your personal preference but this is a good base to start with.
Mocha Protein Shake
1 cup coffee
1/2 cup original unsweetened Almond Breeze almond milk
1 scoop/serving chocolate protein powder (I use Whole Foods soy version)
1 tablespoon Splenda or sugar
1 cup of ice
Blend all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
Based on your protein powder and the milk you use, the calorie count will vary but mine is about 150 calories.
I also tried a version with vanilla protein powder and added a few pumps of Sugar Free Caramel Torani instead of Splenda. It was amazing!!!
