Milk Tea Recipe

I love a milk tea. If you aren't familiar with it, it is like a tea latte over ice. It is also often what is served with boba (or bubble tea). There are lots of different variations to try but one of my favorites is this simple black tea version with milk and brown sugar.

Whole milk is usually what this tea is served with but I found that oatmilk was creamy enough as a replacement. I tried it also with 2% milk and didn't find that it was as good. But feel free to try with any milk of your choosing.

I also love that I can make this with caffeine free tea if I want. Though I love my decaf coffee, I still get caffeine withdrawals. So when I am craving an iced drink, this caffeine free option is perfect.

Milk Tea

2 or more black tea bags (I like Yorkshire Gold because it is strong!)

1 cup whole milk (or milk of your choice - I found oatmilk was good)

2.5 tablespoons brown sugar

Steep 2 tea bags in 1 cup of hot water. Let tea cool (up to room temperature if you want/can wait) then mix with milk and brown sugar. Pour over ice.
