I am not sure what to call these little ribbon decorations we made. Garland...tassel...they are similar to wreath ribbons but mine are not on any wreaths. Either way, my daughter and I made these back to school ribbon clusters to decorate the house and our tote bags with. They came out SO cute!
They are inspired by the ribbons from House of Turnberry. They were unfortunately out of stock at the time so I hunted down some similar ribbons to make our own. We ended up making a bunch so it worked out so well and now I am obsessed!
As I shared before, we are mixing our back to school decor with our American flags and it is filling up my end of summer heart. It doesn't have to be one or the other - we are embracing the present and the future.
I purchased three ribbon sets - back to school, gingham, and rick rack. I also had the white pom pom ribbon. We used ten strands total. And each was cut to about 12 inches. Here is a close up of the ones we used:
I taught my daughter about cutting ribbon at an angle and it was so sweet to have her help me. I am trying to be better at including them in my everyday projects and it is proving to be so worth it to stop and include them.
After cutting, we grabbed the ribbon from the center and used a white twisty tie to tie them together. Then we used either the twisty tie, a ribbon, or a clip to adhere it to an object.
Here is the design my daughter picked out. Hers came out so beautiful!
And how fun that we have matching ribbons for our tote bags. We were all set for the local parade that was taking place in our town the next day.
Then I tied the rest to our American flags for around the house. If you are looking for American flags to collect for next year, right now is a great time to find them discounted. I bought a bunch on clearance last year from my local Safeway.
The house is looking festive, fun, and cheerful. I love those primary colors with just a pop of pink!
