Ninja Sibling Halloween Costume

I shared in my last post that we had to pivot with our Halloween costumes this year. After planning for months that they were all going to be construction workers, they decided they wanted to be ninjas instead. I was not excited as I thought Halloween costumes were already checked off my to do list and I had a million other things to think about as October is a busy month for us.

But trying to be accommodating to my growing older kids, I took to Pinterest for some inspiration and found a really easy and inexpensive costume idea that would give my children both joy and creative expression.

I decided we would use what we had - black pants and inside out black t-shirts. I bought one roll of red ribbon for their sashes/belts. And then they went to town creating cardboard and aluminum foil weapons. I mean, they spent days making things - which is just my reminder that they want ownership of these ideas. That's what I get for raising creative kids! I keep learning I have to let go of control.

When I look at these faces in these pictures - those are some happy kids! Definitely different from trying to make them be construction workers. They were so cute posing and giving action shots. It will be a sweet afternoon that I will always remember.

Then we took it into the woods!

There's nothing as fierce as a three year old! ;)

I hope you have a happy and safe Halloween, if you celebrate. Surely my little ninjas will keep me safe from any ghouls or goblins!
