As we head into summer, I have more time at home as we like to keep to a pretty low key routine. We have lots of time at home and time outside for my kiddos which means I can usually tackle a few projects.
This spring I have been shopping quite a bit. I know I need to slow it down. During lent I had also planned on doing a big purge but I got sick and had some weird back and joint pain issues that had me resting whenever I had a free moment. So now that I am back at it and maybe spent too much time browsing for stuff, it is time to buckle down again.
I am learning that many things in life require continual maintenance. Even though I have gotten so much better at downsizing and being aware of what I allow in the house, I still will need a reset every once in awhile. So here is my plan I typed out on my phone to reference all summer.
🚮 SUMMER PURGE
⭐️ GOALS
+ No Instagram influencers: even though I am not active on social media anymore, I still look at a few of my favorite mom influencers and I have recently been sucked back in. I am going to log out of Instagram on my computer and my goal is to take a break for the summer.
+ Purge house: I have a list of spots in the house that I want to go through, organize, and purge that I started during lent. I would like to finish that list. I made a list of specific areas that I could do on their own whenever I had time - like entryway cabinet, under bed storage, bedroom shelf, etc. That way I wouldn't get overwhelmed with tackling one entire room at a time. These small tangible spots made it easy to get through and I could quickly see progress.
+ Keep track of purchases: So I could be more mindful of what I am buying, I am keeping track of the things I buy outside of groceries and household stuff.
// Here is to another low key summer. Less stuff and more memory making!
