Birthday Cake Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Recipe

Oreo Birthday Cake Ice Cream Recipe--the best homemade ice cream I have ever made!

Let me start off by first saying this is the BEST homemade ice cream recipe I have made yet!  If you like birthday cake ice cream, you are in for a treat!  By using Birthday Cake Oreos, you get the flavor of cake as well as a little crunch.  Because the Oreos have a filling, it perfectly flavors the entire ice cream and not just when you get a bite of the cookie.  I added sprinkles for a little extra color and fun.  It is the perfect combination.  I am so proud.

This recipe uses the same vanilla ice cream base as my Circus Animal Cookie Ice Cream recipe.  Crumble up your Oreos and stir in along with the sprinkles when the ice cream comes out of the ice cream maker.  I tried pouring the cookies into my ice cream maker and it was a mess.  I found it easier to mix it all in a separate bowl before freezing.

Birthday Cake Oreo Cookie Ice Cream

1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 cups heavy cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
About 15 Oreos (or one row), broken into pieces
1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles

In a medium bowl, whisk milk and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Stir in heavy cream and vanilla. Cover and refrigerate for about an hour.

Pour mixture into ice cream maker and mix following manufacturer's instructions.

When ice cream is finished, mix together ice cream, cookies, and sprinkles in a large bowl.  Transfer into freezer safe container.

For real ice cream consistency, freeze for about 2 hours before serving. But if you can't wait, it is more like frozen yogurt and is just as amazing in it's own way!

*I use Cuisinart's ICE-100 Compressor Ice Cream and Gelato Maker and LOVE it. No freezing bowls required!
