Fairy Garden Tea Party Tablescape

A fairy garden tablescape.  I will admit it is not the first thing that comes to my mind when putting together a table setting.  But it surprisingly came together to create a chic and feminine look that I am drooling over.

I wanted the "fairy" theme to be both kid friendly and fun for perhaps a little girl's party but sophisticated and grown up fitting for a ladies tea.  I think I was able to capture both by focusing in on florals and plants to create a garden feel with just a few touches of fairy wings and butterflies to keep it whimsical.

So please forgive my large amounts of photos to follow... I could not help myself.  Each plate, tea cup, and table linen deserved its own spotlight.  And yet again, more proof how everyday items that can be collected over time can be pulled together to create a new themed event.

The fairy wings place settings were made from printing out an image of fairy wings I found online.  The simplest touch pulls the entire theme together.

I honestly do not stack plates very often but am now reminded at what a statement layering does.  Taking a mental note to self.

I also used a few place mats to create a one of a kind runner.  I like the added color and pattern it adds to the table without crowding the space.

I believe to create such a cohesive look with mismatched items, it is important to focus in on a color scheme.  I am always drawn to pink and blues.  By using those as my main focus for what I purchase, I look for pieces that have one of these colors but with additional complimentary colors.  This tablescape is still very pink which is pretty typical for me but there are a lot of other colors thrown in making for a well styled look.  This has taken me a long time to do but I have slowly, over time, become more confident in mixing colors and patterns.

For the centerpiece I went with a garden theme using a variety of plants and succulents.  A few butterflies tucked in continue the fairy garden look.

Paper straws and canning jar cups keep this table low key and not too fussy.  I always want guests to feel special but not fearful of touching anything.

This table is simple yet lovely and I think would make for a perfect spring themed tea or Easter brunch.  Even a Mother's Day lunch or girl's birthday.  The options are endless.

Speaking of fairies, the all-new Tinkerbell movie The Pirate Fairy comes out on Blu-ray and Digital HD April 1st.  Perhaps you have a little one that would just love a fairy tea party and movie watching day!  I know I would!
