This is our family favorite chocolate ice cream recipe when I am in the mood to make some homemade. It is so yummy - rich and you can really taste the melted chocolate. It is an elevated version of an everyday ice cream favorite.
I use this ice cream maker. Find all my homemade ice cream recipes here.
Chocolate Ice Cream
1 cup whole milk (you can also use reduced fat milk for a lighter yet still delicious version)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Heat the milk on the stovetop until it starts to bubble. Pour the heated milk, sugar, and chocolate chips into a blender or food processor and process until well blended and smooth. Transfer to a bowl and let cool completely. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Pour ice cream into ice cream maker and mix following manufacturer's instructions.

This looks incredible, Ashley! Especially the bit about being able to taste the melted chocolate. Many store-bought tubs don't taste very rich or strong to me (more chocolate-ish than true chocolate), but I have a feeling I'd polish off yours in record time… Quite possibly giving myself a brain freeze in the process! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy chocolate loving friend - I love hearing that feedback. This is so true! The rich real chocolate flavor makes this special.
