Valentine's Day | Around The House

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. I just love sprinkling hearts and all the pink around the house. Here is a little look at our Valentine home this year.

I bought some heart shaped paper plates to use last year (while I was pregnant) and I totally forgot to use them! It was the following spring that I decided to start using an occasions bin where I fill it with all our seasonal supplies. I also have a collection of napkins and straws I have been hoarding for a few too many years. It has been fun to use them up this season.

My kids love window clings. I let them play with them on our stairway windows where they see them often as they come down from their rooms. But it is not constantly in my face where I get a little OCD about the placement and fingerprints all over the window! ;)

I updated our art display area after rearranging our dining room to feel less cluttered. I keep this for our favorite art pieces and then either throw out or file the rest.

My favorite little Valentine banner I made many many years ago. A reminder that handmade things are so special.

And I love a little backdrop behind my kid's seats in the dining room for pictures I take of them here doing crafts or whatever. A simple heart doily banner that I taped together felt right this year.

We bought Valentines to put together for the first time this year. I really am trying to remember what I loved growing up. And looking through the different Valentines I got from my classmates was always so special. I am fighting the urge to go over the top and just let our kids pick out some store bought Valentines. Then they got to choose some candy and mini bubbles to tape on. My son will hand these out at his preschool and my daughter had fun making them for our family and neighbors. They LOVED it.

Our winter/February stack of books include all things love, Chinese New Year, and Martin Luther King Jr. I leave these out in a basket in our living room to read through all season long.

My tile mat is looking extra sweet with hearts. And I picked up a package of Lucky Charms marshmallows from Target to make our hot cocoa extra fun.
