Halloween is just around the corner and we have been busy finalizing our costumes for trick or treating. I am still trying to get my kids to dress up in matching sibling costumes as long as they will let me. Here is an easy construction themed costume idea!
For my five year old's birthday this year we had a construction themed party that was super fun (blog post to come!). And so, since April, we had planned that the kids would also be construction workers for Halloween. That way, the construction vests and hats we bought for the party would get a double use! Yay!
Then, a couple of weeks before Halloween, I told them we were going to take our Halloween costume photo. We always take a picture early so I can get a good shot with daylight. They begrudgingly obliged and then they ALL told me they didn't want to be construction workers anymore!
The pictures came out cute but I admit they didn't have that same whimsical, creative, homemade feel that our costumes usually do. I just figured, my kids are getting older and I just get more tired! This will do. But then they all told me they wanted to be ninjas. And, especially for my oldest, I am trying to be more accommodating to their wishes - acknowledging that they are allowed to have a say in what they dress up as and I need to let them grow up and not expect them all to be matchy matchy like when they were little.
So if you are looking for an easy or last minute costume and perhaps have little children that don't care what you dress them in, I hope this can be a fun idea! ;) The tools definitely made the picture. I took some without the tools and it was definitely lacking. Anyways, we managed to come up with a simple ninja costume...and of course it came out spectacular. And it's just another lesson for me in mothering and letting go. I will share that costume next... :)
