We used a little of what we had as well as some new surprises. We used our fire fighter costume and rain boots as decoration (with the option for him to wear but he ended up not wanting to). We had some extra party style fire fighter hats that we got at a firehouse event. I printed off some fire shields and taped those on so that the much played with hats matched and looked festive. Each of the kids also got these adorable fire fighter dalmatian stuffies. They were a huge hit! And this fire truck garland pulled it all together.
It wouldn't be complete without a cardboard handmade fire engine since that is a common theme around here! It is always a bit of work - but pretty much free and a good creative challenge for me! I am always so proud when I complete it and I believe this one might just be one of my best. ;)
I made a chocolate cake with light frosting to give it a dirt feel. These die cast fire trucks were perfect for the cake and continue to be a beloved toy many months later! I got this set with the ladder for the cake and another set to drive on the table. I used these airplane tracks (and turns) we had for the road.
I was also very excited about the buildings on fire! A couple of smaller Amazon boxes were the perfect size. I traced the front side of the box that would be shown with another piece of cardboard then glued it on so that the front was clean without any words. And then I glued on white squares for the windows.
We also used these fire engine plates and dalmatian napkins.
My oldest also wanted to make a fire engine for the party. It was so cute to see him come up with his own unique details.
It was safe to say our fire truck loving boy was very excited!!!
And just like at his car party, he was literally climbing on the table trying to play with all his new fire engines!
So much joy! My sweet four year old - oh my heart.
I love the idea that the decorations are "consumed" as they play with it. They are decor and toys! I take all my styled pictures before they come downstairs and then let them enjoy it.
He also got these cool magnetic fire and rescue vehicles as one of his gifts. I set up some of the decorations over on one of our cabinets so it could continue to be a play scene for him.
What a happy day honoring our newly four year old! These milestones are always a joy to celebrate.
