Pink & White Christmas Dining Room

Pink and White Christmas Dining Room

To continue with the pink and white Christmas theme that I shared of my dining room hutch, the rest of our dining room is sprinkled with a white and pink color scheme with lots of tinsely trees.  Like my hutch, I wanted simple yet festive.  I wanted the room to feel like it sparkled Christmas but I didn't want to fill every nook and cranny with holiday decor.  I've come a long way friends.  I got rid of half of our Christmas decor this year and yet the house still feels cheery and full.  The less stuff is very freeing.

So...more about the "stuff" that I did decided to keep.  The pink tree was found at the same vintage store as my feather trees.  The little trees that light up have been collected over the years at craft stores often at Black Friday prices or after Christmas clearance.  Over the years these trees have proven the test of time, especially the silver and whites ones that can go with any color pallet.  Because really, just the one pink tree and the ribbon on the wreath make this look pink.  How easy is that?

I picked up bottle brush trees from Walmart this year with intentions of making snow globes but that never happened.  But they work well in my little forest and add just a touch of green to make the display a little more earthy.  The small wood deer is a favorite piece that I had growing up.  My mom has two more that are larger which created our own little deer family.

The book page leaf wreath has been up since I made it this summer and seems to work well with the changing fall and winter decor.

I love the non-traditional whimsy of the trees and colors that work well with my existing decor.  Decorating is so much easier when the seasonal decor flows with what is already going on.  As I get a better grasp on what I love, I am more picky and cautious about what I bring in my home for the holidays.  Having less but having things that reflect our home make the decor much more unique and unified.

I tried decorating the large white tree a couple of times but I could never settle on anything I liked.  It looks a little bare when the lights aren't on but in real life when everything is lit up it is pretty perfect in it's simplicity.

Surrounding the tree are our stockings that I dressed up with ruffles a couple of years ago as well as a nutcracker that we bought when my husband and I were dating and he took me to The Nutcracker in San Francisco.  It is a fond memory we have of our dating days and so I love that it still gets put out every year as well as has a story to go with it.

We usually use this white tree as the main tree in our living room which gets filled with our ornaments and gifts underneath but this year I wanted to change it up with a green tree.  My mom had an extra green tree that we used which allowed me to put the white one in our dining room.  It is big enough to make a statement in the room but not so huge that it is overwhelming.  It is sitting on top of one of my vintage suitcases to give it a little extra height.

The wood stumps were picked up on a recent hike.  Gotta love free outdoor decor!

And this is what the room looked like before I picked it up.  Real life with my cutie nephew.  It's kind of a pretty mess, don't you think?
